Welcome. My name is Ray Bauer and I’ve been on the creative side of marketing and advertising for over 25 years. Up until December of 2009 I’ve worked at agencies and marketing firms in New York City, Silicon Valley and since 2000, in West Michigan. I started my own firm, rBAUERdesign, in 2010. I’m now providing creative services –which include such things as graphic design, creative direction, art direction and production management – combined with vertical marketing strategies and planning to both agencies and firms in need of some extra help with their client base as well as to individual enterprises.
The reason for this blog.
Considering my background and experience, I think I have something to offer anyone with a marketing interest. That may include a creative person such as myself looking to add value to their service arsenal, or to an individual who may be a marketer themselves such as a small business owner or perhaps a VP or Director of Marketing for a larger organization.
I have a very practical approach to what I do. Quite simply I apply good design and concept with solid research and appropriate marketing techniques all aimed at one result – increased traffic, sales opportunities and margins. I have a proven track record over the years and have had a part in assisting firms such as Sun Microsystems, ABB, Universal Forest Products, Balemaster and GMB Architects. I’ve also helped Amtrak, Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, the Housing Authority of Nashville, the cities of San Jose, Hayward and San Leandro California all meet their marketing and creative goals.
What you can look for here.
My intent with this blog is to share what has (and hasn’t) worked during my career. You can look for design advice. I’ll talk about search engine optimization. I’ll discuss vertical marketing, guerilla marketing and inbound marketing. I’ll include practical advice and helpful hints about such things as how to properly save files for web versus offset printing use. I’ll provide some “best of” files and videos. I’ll ask my many contacts to contribute as guest writers in order to get different view points from time to time.
This will not be a blog about me, what I did over the weekend, what I had for dinner or how many kids I have (2 – a boy and a girl + 1 wife & 2 dogs.)
In general, I’m going to – hopefully – make this a destination that will be helpful on a number of marketing levels. Maybe even a little entertaining with some humor thrown in.
I welcome comments. In fact I encourage them – agreeing with me or not – or just voicing your perspective of things. Please join me on this journey and if you like what you read consider bookmarking, subscribing to or sharing this blog with others. Thanks. I look forward to writing on a regular basis.
